FAQs

  • Occupational therapy (OT) is an allied health profession that supports individuals to participate successfully in the everyday activities that are meaningful and essential to their lives, by developing skills, building independence, and removing barriers to participation.

In paediatrics, these activities (often referred to as “occupations”) include play, learning, self-care, social interaction, and participation in family and school life. Occupational Therapists assess a child’s strengths, challenges, and developmental needs, looking at areas such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. Therapy may involve building these underlying skills, as well as adapting tasks, environments, or routines to better support the child’s success.

Working closely with families and educators, Occupational Therapists aim to improve a child’s independence, confidence, and ability to function in their daily life—helping them participate in the activities that are meaningful to them.

  • Sessions are play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child’s interests and goals. Your therapist may use games, movement activities, and structured tasks to build skills in a fun and supportive way. Parents and caregivers are often involved so strategies can be continued at home.

  • We offer flexible service delivery options, including:

    • At home

    • At school or daycare

    • In the community

    • Via telehealth

We aim to support children in the environments where they feel most comfortable.

  • This varies depending on your child’s goals and level of support needed. Your therapist will work with you to develop a plan and outline the recommended frequency of supports.

  • We accept a range of funding options, including:

    • NDIS – We work with families who are self-managed or plan-managed.

    • Medicare – You may be eligible to access our services with a rebate through Medicare. Please contact your GP for more information.

    • Private paying – Families are welcome to access services privately without a referral.

If you’re unsure which option applies to you, we’re happy to guide you through the process and help you understand your funding options.

  • Session charges vary based on your location and the duration of the session. During your free 15-minute phone consultation, we will discuss the different treatment options for your child and associated costs with you.

  • We take a genuinely individualised and relationship-based approach to therapy. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, we take the time to really get to know each child—their strengths, interests, personality, and what motivates them—so therapy feels meaningful, engaging, and effective.

Our sessions are purposeful. We blend evidence-based practice with creativity and play, allowing children to build skills in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. At the same time, we focus on real-life outcomes—supporting children to succeed in the environments that matter most to them, whether that’s at home, school, or in the community.

We also place a strong emphasis on collaboration. We work closely with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure consistency and carryover, so progress doesn’t just happen in sessions—it translates into everyday life.

Above all, we aim to create a supportive and positive experience for both children and their families—where progress is celebrated, confidence is built, and every child feels understood.
